Brian Palaia is a seasoned Professional Town Manager with over 16 years of experience working in the government administration industry. Among his many skills he is particularly knowledgeable in public works, economic development, public safety, team building, media relations, grant writing and public finance. Brian is a highly educated professional who holds several degrees from many universities.

Brian Palaia began his academic career at the University of Connecticut where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources. During this time he founded his own company, The Lawn Ranger, where he tested his skills and learned how to grow his business successfully from zero clients to over 100. In 2003 Brian earned his Certificate in Executive Construction Management from the University of Hartford. After graduation he became the Economic Development Director and later Planning Director in the Town of Ledyard and served on the Board of Directors for Southeastern Connecticut Enterprise Region (SECTOR) defending against the Closure of Subase New London. While working in this position full-time Brian Palaia enrolled in courses at Salve Regina University where he obtained his MBA in Business Administration and International Relations in 2007.

After graduating with his MBA, Brian Palaia’s career began to take off with gusto. He became the Deputy Township Manager in Vernon while also holding board positions as the Commissioner of the Chittenden County Transportation Authority and Green Mountain Transit as well as Chairman of the Economic Development Commission. While Chairman, Brian decided he wanted to further his education even more than he had previously done. ICMA University offers a unique seven day Senior Executive Institute (SEI) program, in conjunction with staff from the SEI institute at the University of Virginia called the Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service. It is designed for senior local government managers and participants to test strategies and learn new techniques to increase efficiency in their professional careers. Brian jumped at the chance to hone his skills and to learn new strategies he could implement to build a higher performing organization for his community.

Brian Palaia used the new found skills to become Town Manager in Milton, VT where he was responsible for the supervision of the town’s affairs and carried out the policies for the Selectboard. As Town Manager he also served as Road Commissioner, Emergency Management Coordinator, and Delinquent Collector of water rents and property taxes. After 5 years Brian moved on to Worcester Regional Transit Authority where he was acting Commissioner. Over the next few years Brian continuously added more responsibilities to his plate. Brian  continues to perform exceedingly well in all of them due to his determination and vast knowledge and experience in his field. Currently he is the Secretary for the Board of Directors for the Municipalities Organized for Regional Effectiveness (MORE) where he continues to thrive and bring efficiency and prosperity to the towns he manages.
